Unibox 10 - Black Line

The first Unibox 10 was completed exactly 3 days after I inadvertently had the occasion to play a friend's Univox U-45B. I found the schematics on-line and saw tons of room for easy improvement - I kept the unusual 6BM8/ECL82 tubes that have a triode and power pentode each in the same bottle, but I was able to adapt a long-tail PI using the triode sections of the two power tubes. I replaced the rudimentary tremolo with my own bias-vary design, and added reverb, which, along with the pre-amp only required two 12AX7s.

The current version of the Unibox 10 Black now features the new excellent JJ 5Y3 rectifier tube, and every one gets both reverb and tremolo.  With a new light proprietary ceramic speaker, it totally captures the vibe of the Unibox, only somehow louder and better.  Based on the C12Q, this 12” speaker has a Goodsell-specific ribbed cone and edge treatment that tightens the bottom end and improves clarity compared to the old dry-edge seam cone.
